The family & descendants web site is undergoing renovations to be completed by end March 2010 It will have updated and additional information for all to see, search and add to with all the new family descendant members who have come from all sources over the last 12 months. It will hopefully, along with this blog serve all the members and descendants. Additionally, we hope it may be become a touch point for those who seek to add all the bits and pieces that we may not know as yet.

A quick note from Philip Wright............

Right now, I know little of blogs or blogging at all, I'm also supposed to be too old to learn or fool about with this stuff, but here I go on another "discovery" trip..... and hope that this becomes a small forum for those who may have an interest in the Australian Story of Joseph Wright & Ellen and their descendants. It's often said Australia has such a short history... perhaps, but it certainly does not lack colour. And we certainly have a bit of that, both past & current.

So gather up and find why Eureka Wright was given her name, find out about her husband's connection to the famous or infamous Ned Kelly.
Who was who and when? How did it happen? Why did they move? What about Tasmania? What about (my 4th GGGrandfather) Capt John Townson and the building of the "Norfolk" which was fundamental to the proof of Tasmania (then Van Dieman's land of course) existing as an island. Our family has witnessed or been part of all the major events in Australian European settlement, - the good & bad bits too!
Love to hear from any who may add or comment on areas of our common interest.

Don't know how Michael Flynn obtained the details and we know of no will by Ellen Gott.
Nonetheless, Marion Taylor is following up on this. Perhaps details were recorded of wills but the actual documents were not officially retained. An interesting question, and we will seek the sources of the information shown in Michael Flynn 's authoritive work "The Second Fleet"

The only very early will copy that many descendants have is that of Capt John Townson, Father of Sarah
